Path of Action: Day 5
Whenever you start a project, laying the foundation is essential.
In Western ways of thinking, laying the foundation often has to do with careful planning – setting up the right structures and obtaining the necessary resources. But in Buddhist terms, the foundation for success is built within the mind; in your motivation for action.
If your intention is strong and clear, the path to goodness and success lies open before you.
When you get up on the morning, start work or start a new project, say to yourself, “My aim is to act from pure motivation, without selfish goals.” Your motive may be completing a job or project successfully, or it may be to learn something new, create something beautiful, or bring benefit to others. It doesn’t matter. If the motivation is good, it will drive away all grasping and self-centered concerns.
